Kantaten zu Marienfesten | BWV 1, BWV 12, BWV 147
Das Kirchenjahr mit Johann Sebastian Bach
N°9/10
This CD contains three cantatas for feast days of the Virgin Mary, which can be counted to the most beautiful cantatas written by Johann Sebastian Bach. The works are: BWV 1 “How lovely shines the morning star”, BWV 125 “With peace and joy I depart” and BWV 147 “Heart and mouth and deed and life” which also contains the world famous Choral “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”. As usual the Sopran and Alto parts are cast with St. Thomas Boys and the other soloists are Christoph Genz, Martin Petzold, Gotthold Schwarz and Matthias Weichert, accompanied by the Gewandhaus Orchestra and conducted by Georg Christoph Biller.
