Kantaten zur Refomation/Michaelistag | BWV 19, BWV 50, BWV 79, BWV 80
Das Kirchenjahr mit Johann Sebastian Bach
N°10/10
On this recording of Bach cantatas for Reformation Day and Michaelmas Georg Christoph Biller adds the Hymn “Dicimus grates tibi” to the Michaelmas cantatas BWV 19 “There arose a war” and BWV 50 “Now is salvation and strength”. A choral (” May God bestow on us His grace”) is put before the Reformation Day cantatas BWV 80 “A mighty fortress is our God” and “God the Lord is sun and shield” BWV 79. Like on other recordings, Biller used boy voices for the Soprano and Alto solos of the cantatas. The other parts are sung by Martin Petzold and Gotthold Schwarz.
